Can overlap with Worship Kink.

Common Practices

Everyone is different! You'll see this repeated throughout our website and glossary. Common sacred kink practices include, but certainly aren't limited to:
  • Partnering with people who have similar veiw-points and values.
  • Associating kinky practices with meditation, prayer, or religious activity.
  • Unwillingness or inability to engage with kink (and sometimes all sex) in ways that are out of line with one’s deeply held beleifs.
  • Development of specific rituals within a dynamic that honor the spiritual nature of play, power-exchange, and other facets of BDSM and kink.

Branwen is an atheist and does not practice religion of any sort. She considers her kink practices her chosen form of spirituality, and finds spiritual significance through kink behavior.

Georgie’s BDSM practices hold deep personal meaning, and bring a structure to their life comparable to a religion or spiritual practice.
Agatha describes her BDSM experiences as having similar mental and physical effects as deep meditation.

We want your take!

Help us improve the glossary! We're looking for:

  • Anecdotes for kinks in practice, tell us about a scene or an interaction that you feel best illustrates an entry
  • Suggestions for topics to add
  • Short stories to help illustrate each glossary entry - true or fictional stories that demonstrate a topic. (1 page, tops!)
  • Folks who disagree - tell us why we're wrong!

We want to illustrate as many sides of kink as we can to both normalize kink, sexuality, and the diversity within it all, and we can't do that alone!
